About me

I’m a digital strategist and I like building new businesses. Much of my best work has been convincing large organisations - public and private - to grasp new opportunities and then take these to market. I passionately believe that the forces of market and technological disruption can be harnessed by any company (start up or incumbent), provided there is full commitment to agility, test and learn methods, and a willingness to smash a lot of the family china on the way.

This blog is an opportunity for me to air some of the insights, issues and themes that I come across in the course of my work, and other things that interest or matter to me.

The tone and style of this blog will be discursive, irreverent and no doubt sometimes a little opinionated and provocative. Its called The Fumoir because I’d like the conversation to have echoes of the sort of exchanges people used to have in fumoirs, or smoking lounges, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century . High ambition indeed, but you need to start somewhere …

I am currently building BT Tradespace, a place for social commerce, in BT Business.

This is my personal blog and doesn’t reflect the views of BT in any way.
